In 1984 Citifluor Ltd was launched by City University, London. The products, antifadent (anti-bleaching) mountant solutions and immersion oils, soon gained acceptance by researchers and those carrying out routine assays using the technique of fluorescence microscopy e.g. immunofluorescence, where the fading of fluorochromes such as FITC was a problem.
Increasing awareness of environmental and health issues led to the products being tested and subsequently shown to be safe to handle and not having to carry labels such as toxic or irritant. |
